Philly teachers' starting salary is $54,146. Their union aims to fix that or strike.

(Philadelphia Tribune) The Philadelphia Federation of Teachers is advocating for increased salaries, paid parental leave, compensation for oversized classrooms and additional preparation time for special education teachers to complete IEPs and other mandated documentation.

“We have been meeting twice a week so far and there is still no efficient progress that would allow us to sign an agreement right now,” PFT President Arthur Steinberg said in a Tribune editorial board this week. “We would like to see more movement on wages and working conditions.”
