Philadelphia State of the Schools report shows significant progress on many levels

“Before COVID, our students ranked in the middle or near the bottom among large urban districts,” said School District of Philadelphia Superintendent Tony Watlington Sr., speaking at the third annual State of the Schools address.

“Since the pandemic, fourth-grade reading and math and eighth-grade reading have moved into the top quartile, and eighth-grade math now ranks second in growth nationally,” he added. “Our students are making real progress.”
